BELUM RAINFOREST - SANGHUR EXPEDITION

After many passive years, at last I managed to get along one..unfortunately an Otai fishing group to BELUM Rainforest. I calimed unfortunate because they are really pro. As a humble person (ceh!) I always embarked myself as a beginner. Having chats with them, I'm sure they have a lots of experiences.

Except myself, all of them have been into BELUM... but this trip would be the furthest. according to our guide Sanghur would be the last point that Taman Negeri would allow civilian to enter.

Beginning of the trip... everybody was really exited. Dry shirt..plenty of water, grubs and highly motivated. Well... that pretty smile doesn't last that long. After snapping few photos at Royal Belum camp site, get loaded for another ten minute boat ride. We were informed that the water level is quite high which enable the boat that we ride to pursue upper stream. Oh wow...that's save about 30-50 minutes trekking.

Then the challenge began. It was no man track and we have walk along riverbank and climbs many sharp edge boulders! 15 minutes later like children we behaved asking question such as how far more... (well we were briefed that the trekking will take up to six hours!)

Approximately four hours later, we reach the campsite. The orang asli porter had really tortured us. With the most burden carried by them... they still the fastest trekker. Just imaging if they did not carry any load.? Should put more load next time...he he

I think Majlis Sukan Malaysia should study seriously on my personnel statement.

Alamak..boleh sampai ka nih

Finally at the campsite... yahoo...

The four and half hour trekking was really exhausted. Nevertheless, in the first day, everyone was really eager to throw their bait. Not much, the 1st. day only our guide manage to catch one Kejor fish.

Second day we explored further upstream, the track leaded to two orang asli site. Meeting these clan you are advised to offer some gift. Salt or sugar are so precious for them.

Second day we managed to catch only two fishes, one sebarau and one bujuk (both are meal size). I addressed 'we' instead of 'I' because I haven't caught one! he he...

This fish was stuck in Fikri's line so I 'pinjam' le..

As we reached to campsite after exploring the upper stream, we were surprise that Abg. Ghani has caught one Kelah fish.

This is the 1st time I hold a wild Kelah.. and sure that night dinner was superb.

Local jungle fruit.. forgot its name. The 1st fish was caught using this bait.

Yummy dinner, 5 star treats in dense jungle.. Rice were cooked in bamboo and you can't get it in dense city!

The trip was fun, yet not many fishes caught. They said the water was too clear and chances for better fishing should the water is slightly muddy.

Nevertheless, be in the oldest jungle was really amazing and is a unforgettable experience.
